Wedding Photography FAQs

May 28th, 2024

Q: What is your style?

A: My focus is emotional yet clean and classic portraits of you and your loved ones.  I try to stay away from cheesy poses and blurry faces, otherwise you’ll tell me what is important for you to capture and we’ll make it happen!

Q: We’re not sure yet how many hours of photography we will need.

A: If you're unsure about the exact number of hours of coverage you'll want, simply make it official by booking the middle package with six (6) hours of coverage. That way, you’ll get the best value per hour and can add on additional time once you figure out your wedding day timeline.

Q: Do I need a second photographer?

A: I recommend having a second shooter if you have more than 200 guests and/or you want simultaneous moments captured at two different locations (e.g., bride and groom getting ready in separate spots/ photos of guests mingling during cocktail hour while you’re taking photos with the main photographer on location).

Q: Do I need an engagement session?

A: That totally depends on your needs. You can use the photos for your save-the-dates, invitations, website registries, guest books, framed prints for your guest table, bar, and your home... and of course, social media! Plus, it's a way for you to get a little practice in front of the camera before your big day, and it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other. Personally, I highly recommend it. Engagement sessions are 50% off if booked together with wedding package.

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

A: I use two Canon mirrorless cameras (one on each hip) with prime lenses. Both are literally on me at all times throughout your wedding day, so I never have to worry about changing lenses, switching memory cards, or changing batteries. Every moment matters, and this is where my 10+ years of experience really kicks in.

Q: How many images do we get? How long does it take?

A: You will receive about one photo per minute of your wedding day. Sneak peek images will be available on Instagram shortly after your wedding, and the full gallery will be ready within 4-5 weeks.

Q: Do you offer any albums, prints, wall art, etc.?

A: Totally! All of this can be ordered directly through your online gallery. Print orders typically take 1-2 weeks, while custom-designed albums can take 1-3 months. Orders placed after November 15th are not guaranteed for Christmas delivery.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?

A: Yes, I offer free payment plans. Traditional payments are 50% at booking and 50% on your wedding day. I can also divide payments into thirds or quarters if preferred. I also don't charge any additional fees for credit card payments:

Q: What happens if you aren't able to make it to our big day?

A: In the unlikely event of an emergency, I have a network of trusted colleagues with similar styles who can step in. In my 10+ years of experience, I’ve never missed or been late to a wedding.

Q: Do you have insurance?

A: Absolutely. I have coverage through a comprehensive, multi-insurance carrier, endorsed by Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).

About Me

I specialize in intimate weddings and small family gatherings and run a small portrait studio in Truckee, CA. I’ve been photographing couples and events since I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2007. In that time, I've photographed over 150 weddings as the lead photographer and over 1,500 portrait sessions. My focus is to capture a series of beautiful and emotional portraits during your celebration—images that will never go out of style.
